Ash Robinson is a Black American artist and designer based in Indianapolis, Indiana. She graduated from the Herron School of Art & Design, where she received her BFA in Furniture Design. While attending San Diego University for graduate school, Robinson studied industrial design and began experimenting with a wide range of mediums and concepts that focused on the misrepresentation of Black America.
In her most recent work, Robinson uses various construction materials to create portraits that symbolize black empowerment. Reminiscent of shields, the portraits are a symbol of strength and resilience. She considers her multi-media approach as a representation of an eclectic black society.
Robinson has been featured in numerous exhibitions including Cause & Æffect: Art that Speaks Out, Indiana State Museum, The Simplicity of Being: Identity & Personhood in a Complex World, New Delhi, India, as well as the Butter Fine Art Fair 2 & 3, Indianapolis, IN. The Beckmann Emerging Artist Fellowship and the Creative Renewal Fellowship from the Arts Council of Indianapolis are among her top accomplishments. She exhibited her work at ArtPrize 2024, in Grand Rapids. She recently exhibited In Good Company, showcasing the most talented artists in Indianapolis. Robinson’s artistic career proves that she is capable of expertly working in any medium and that sets her apart from her peers.
